About Laura

Laura grew up loving books and still does. However she loves her family more (usually) and will be leaving Cedar Fort mid-June 2012 to be a stay at home mom. She'd like to thank all the wonderful authors, bloggers and Cedar Fort Employees who have been so fun to work with.

For the Holiday Story Contest–You want an attachment to the e-mail instead of the story contained within the body of the e-mail? That’s how I read the directions, but I’ve found that other publishers don’t want an attachment, so I’m just clarifying.
    Thank You,
    Mary Ann Duke, Ed.D.

  2. this is really interesting! I’m thinking of joining…hmmm…

  3. Janice says:

I submitted a Christmas story for your contest a few years ago. It didn’t win but I was asked if it could be considered in the future. (I said yes) Could I rewrite and submit it?

  4. Dee says:

I think I could wrangle up a Christmas story. How do you feel about re-purposed pieces. I wrote a piece for my blog called “It’s All About the Love” several years ago that I can rewrite to include more detail and change the title to something catchier.

Also–totally off topic. I love the graphic, the lights on the tree are positively twlinkling at me and make me so happy. Oh wait, that might be my migraine medication. lol. Seriously, though, who did your graphic?

  5. Angela Hunter says:

Do you want the Christmas stories to be true?

  6. Mary Ann Duke, Ed.D, says:

I submitted my Christmas story a few days ago. I hope you received it. I am excited because I worked very hard to add interiority and fix my “talking heads.” I feel good.
    Thank You,

I love your Christmas Contest! I have looked long and hard throughout the year for just the right contest, and I believe yours is the best.
Is there a way to find out if my submission has been received?
    Thank You

  8. Ellen Burns says:

My daughter just told me that you had this contest and they grew up with my Christmas stories; suggested that I submit 1 but it does not meet the minimun 5k. Are you firm with thie requirement?

  9. I read the winner to be announced Dec 15 2012, will the winners be notified on that date also?

  10. Mary Ann Duke, Ed.D, says:

It states “You will be notified January 13, 2912.”
Where did you hear about the December 2012 date?

  11. Laura says:

We will be announcing winners tomorrow: Jan 13th, 2012. Sorry for any confusion.

  12. Rhonda Baker; Lodi, CA says:

Have the winners been announced yet?

  13. Rhonda Baker; Lodi, CA says:

I have been watching anxiously and cannot find a word about it. Are only the winners to be notified by email, or is everyone to be notified by email who the winners are?

  14. Laura says:

Sorry. The winners were listed on facebook on Friday, but we neglected to announce them here. I just made a new post about it. Here’s the link: http://www.cedarfortbooks.com/2011-holiday-story-writing-contest-winners/

  15. Mary Ann duke says:
